How it was made!

A Conversation

My client reached out to me on social media and we started a dialog. We spoke about her wedding, her flowers, and her vision. We came to an agreement of what she would like to have made and a date to drop off her flowers. She sent me an e-transfer for the deposit and we were cooking with gas!

The Drop Off

My client and her new husband dropped off her flowers at my studio and we got to meet and speak for a bit!

Preservation - part 1

To maintain the integrity of the flowers, I ensured no sap and other floral fluids were on the petals and leaves. I brake apart the bouquet and take note of most striking parts of the bouquet. I leave these items to air and breathe.

Preservation - part 2

Once the flowers were free of sap, dew, and moisture, I placed them in molds and submerged them in resin.
This is the trickiest part of the process! It can be dangerous and you can burn yourself, so I never recommend trying this on your own at home.

Personalization

Before select pieces are finalized, clients can request inscriptions or messages be added to their order.
If this is the case, I add personalizations to the to each piece. This is a sentimental touch that I like to add.

Wrapping it up!

This is a double-entendre! This is the part of the process where I cross all the t’s and dot all of the i’s to make sure each piece is perfect… and then I literally wrap the order up for pick up!

Once this is finished, the client is notified and we arrange a pick up.

Pick Ups

The process is done! I turn the order over to the client. All drop offs and pick ups are 100% social distancing-friendly… so no hugs, high-fives, or handshakes like you see to the right!

A week or so after the final pick up, I reach out and ensure everything is still perfect and that the client is 100% happy.

With just a handful of Poppies, I was able to make multiple sets of coasters, a platter, and several paperweights.
Here are some more pieces that I made with the poppies you see in the paperweights.
